Welcome to First Grade! Teaching is my absolute passion! I look forward to working with you and helping my students in their development!

I have 21 years teaching experience in Kindergarten and First Grade in Sumter County. I graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education in May 2000. I later obtained a M.S. in Early Reading and Literacy from Walden University. During my career, I have obtained an endorsement in Elementary Math and Gifted Education, and a GOSA Reading certification all through Chattahoochee-Flint RESA. I currently serve as a Master Teacher with Georgia Southwestern State University and South Georgia Technical College where I serve as a mentor to Rising Educators. I have received the Furlow Falcon Award twice, and was chosen as a Georgia Southwestern State University Teacher of the Week. I'm also honored to be a former Teacher of the Year at Furlow Charter School.

I have been married to my husband for 19 years and have two fabulous children (ages 18 and 13). My hobbies include spending time with family, shopping, reading, and traveling. 

It's going to be a great year in 1st grade! Go Falcons!
