Biography

As a resident of Sumter County for over 30 years, Mrs. Parks currently serves as the Music Advisor for Kindergarten through Seventh Grade. She attended Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education with certification in Early Childhood Education and Music Education. She received her Master of Education from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia. Her husband, Keith, is her best friend; she has three sons, Jonathan, David and Jason, who carry on the family heritage of music, two amazing daughters-in-law, Ansleigh and Maggie, and three precious grandchildren, Liam, Bennett and Noah. As a music educator, church pianist and pastor’s wife, her motto is “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!” She believes that the educator’s job is not only to teach Standards of Excellence but to daily “shine” and impact the lives of students, parents, colleagues, and community members. Mrs. Parks shares her musical passion with students of all ages encouraging them to give the gift of music to others. Her heart’s message is that she is proud to be an educator, impacting the lives of students – students that will continue to impact others for generations to come.

The Rhythm Trainer - We've used this website in class to practice our rhythms. There are 2 types of exercises: A Mode, where you click in the rhythm you hear, or B Mode, where you see a rhythm and choose the sound that matches.  At the end of your session, you can email  me your results!
